Accounting

Sterling was designed by programmers with serious accounting backgrounds, including and MBA in Accounting/finance.  We consider solid accounting data to be critical for your success in automation.  We think it should be obvious that accounting data is generated.

STERLING NOW SUPPORTS SAB101 ACCOUNTING.  Create your own rules for recognizing revenues, based on the standard accounting board MemoSAB101.

General Ledger Accounting transactions can generated from every Sterling posting function:

●    Sales automatically generates your credit to revenues and debit to AR, along with the debit to cogs and credits to inventory when applicable.  You even have the ability to set up separate AR accounts for different contract terms.  You can set up separate cash GL accounts for different payment. methods.  We assume that you need ultimate flexibility, and want to eliminate duplicate tracking systems as necessary with other software packages. (See GL transactions Report)

●    Cash Receipts generates your credits to AR and debits to the Cash Account of your Choice.  You have the ability to over-ride the Debit GL account for NON-AR Cash receipts.

●    Trust and Care Funds automatically generates the Due to and Due from transactions for setting up the trust, and then recognizes the amounts received, deposited and withdrawn. . . all with vital GL transactions generated.  Because we know you need the accounting transactions.

●    Commissions generates the Due to sales representative journal entries, along with commissions expense at the time of sale.  Actually, you decide what the debit and credit accounts are. At the time commissions are considered "earned" because cash receipts were received, another set of debit and credit transactions can be generated.

●    Adjusting Journal Entries can be done right in Sterling so that you can keep your subsidiary ledgers together.  Other software systems force you to export your journal transactions to another GL package.  Sterling does it all in one place.  All you need in your GL package is summarized data for running Financial Statements.

●    Accounting Reports are available for every imaginable situation, because we know you need flexibility.

Sterling doesn't force you to generate journal entries.  We merely give you ultimate flexibility to generate journal entries when you need to based on your procedures and internal rules for recognizing income and expenses.

Sterling Enterprise Management software allows for setting up each Cemetery, Funeral Home, Flower Shop etc. as a separate department within the bigger company.

Contracts from multiple departments (Cemetery and Funeral Home) coexist when reviewing a persons file, yet the background accounting settings keep the departments separate.

The following example shows how Accounts Receivable totals are subtotaled by department, with the company total at the end.  Click image to see sample screen
